So, our deck has been started and it's looking good. Some of the railing still needs to go up and I have to pick out some post caps to finish things off. Then of course the stairs and the lower deck need to be done. We're still a little ways off "completion," but it's good to at least have a start on things. And cheer cheer for brother dear! (He's the one doing all the work.)
We plan to paint/stain the deck down the road. I'm thinking in white, black and shades of grey. Something along these lines (colour-wise). Grey deck floor. White posts and hand rails. Black iron spindles (obviously those won't need to be painted).
Post caps like these would do the trick. (Both at RONA.)
Once they're painted a crisp white, they'll look even better. The contrast with the iron spindles should be good (or that's at least what I'm hoping for).
So, that's what's new around here. Now we just need some outdoor furniture so we can sit out in the evenings and nourish the mosquitoes! I hate those suckers.
