A Look Inside My Head (Exterior Plan)

We have to choose siding and exterior stone for our new build this week. I'm not as confident with exteriors (arg). So this is me trying to visualize what things might look like. As you can see, we're thinking of going with grey siding and stone. The roof is black and it's already up so we can't change that! The fascia, soffits, and trim will be white and I'd like the front door to be black. That brass knocker and door handle look pretty good too!

What do you think? Any red flags? I know there's a lot of grey going. The white trim should really pop though and that isn't really represented in the collage. Undecided (but maybe you can help me with that).

  1. Sarah I love the roof, love the black door, stone and sconces. My house is gray but too light! The painter kept telling me the chip would actually look lighter than the paint would when it was all over the house and then again would look darker when it dried. He had it wrong and it looks almost white to me. We were on a budget and we won't repaint for a few years (with a different painter and a richer shade) If your lot is sunny, the gray will look even lighter. we have a lot of shade and are surrounded by old growth spruce so those colors help keep it from looking too light for me. I'd buy a quart of paint and put it on the house to be sure it is right for you.

  2. I love it! I was wanting to do grey and black for the exterior when we build (eventually... hopefully next year!). I love the sconces you picked out too. I'm so excited to see the finished product. It's going to look amazing!
